LMS is pending after changes in folder

Hi,
I always have had this problem. Everytime I make a change in my music folder (for instance renaming a file or moving a file to another folder), I have a connectivity problem. For about 15 minutes there is no connection possible with LMS via my Duet. Is this normal or can this be solved?

No lights on SD Receiver

I've been using SD for two or three years without a problem. However, a month or so ago I had to disconnect it and it has not been used for about six weeks. Tried to power it up again yesterday and found the receiver appears to be dead, no lights at all when plugged in.. Have tried re-set procedures without success. The remote is connected to my wireless network and everything there looks fine. Is it possible/likely that the receiver has died? If so, can I get another?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Any idea why I hear a buzzing or feedback sound before I play at track or when there is a gap between each track.. Cheers.

Apparent Receiver suicide en mass (x3): streaming but no D or A audio. Help please.

Hi All

After owning three Receivers pretty much since they came out I seem to have hit a serious issue. Despite seemingly streaming ok there is now no audio output.

Over the years the faithful little boxes have entertained and impressed. Both at home and at many events; weddings, birthdays, anniversary’s and random parties included. Apart from s/w config issue they’ve never let me down.

A few weeks ago I was configuring them to use a recycled router I planned to use at an upcoming wedding. I’d sold my Controller some time ago so was using the Net::UDAP scripts that I’d used many times before. These scripts I’d always found to be a bit erratic but usually got there in the end.

But then I saw a symptom I hadn’t seen before. Receivers streaming, showing a bright white* LED but not outputting any audio on any of the outputs. At first it was just two but the other soon go in on the game. Bear in mind that these units where in use at home so were working beforehand. When I configure a new setup up I usually run them for 24 hours to show the setup if reliable. IIRC correctly I’d run them for this period with no amps or decoders connected. Although I’d didn’t check the audio before I stopped, LMS showed them still streaming quite happily.

During debug I went through three different routers and multiple set to defaults/config cycles. To no avail, still no sound. Still wondering if I had a config issue I bought a new(to me) Duet set. I had the new Receiver working in minutes and soon showed that even using the Controller to setup the other Receivers it made no difference. I also used the hold button down, power on LED/audio test mode to test too.

I’ve been pulling my hair out, are they really dead now ? Anyone have any ideas ?

Thanks very much.

*well one of them has gone a bit yellow in it's old age....

Reinstalling LMS after catastrophic Windows failure

My Windows 10 system self-destructed after four weeks and the PC supplier re-installed the original Windows 7 (Ultimate x64, probably not relevant).
This was a clean install which formated my C: drive, so I lost both the LMS code and settings.

I anticipate that re-installing LMS onto my C: drive will be simple. My music is on an external USB drive with about 4 levels of backup, so that's perfectly safe.

My controller and player are both set to contact the LMS known as "Swifty's PC", but I only know this because the controller complained that it couldn't contact "Swifty's PC". I looked around in the controller menus and settings, but couldn't find where the LMS's identity is stored/defined. Is it possible to deduce the name of the LMS from the controller alone.

Whilst I'm here, I might as well ask if there are any other issues that I'm likely to encounter after installing a fresh LMS into what was a working setup?

If you're interested in the Windows 10 catastrophe, then read on...

Win10 had not worked well for me. I got sporadic "A critical process has failed" sorts of messages, which resulted in automatic restarts. Some programs which had worked on Win7 wouldn't work on Win10 despite working for many others. Finally, the "critical ... has failed/restart mechanism failed because some critical files could neither be found, nor recovered. So, the PC wouldn't boot.

I'd been taking weekly image backups of my system (Acronis) and after I'd been reverted to Win7, I recovered one of the images onto a spare drive, which I then cloned onto one of my external drives. So, I can do forensic studies of the system as it was just prior to the failure. I don't plan to do this, but I have recovered some useful files from the old C: drive, after discovering some gaps in my backup strategy.

After regressing me to Win7, the supplier recommended that I re-apply for my free Windows10 upgrade, but not to install it until the offer is about to expire. Hopefully an update will fix whatever destroyed my Win10 system in the meantime. I may try to download Win10 installation images, so I can do my own recoveries, should some future Win10 system go the way of my first one.

Android Squeezebox app will not select any player

I've re-installed LMS onto my Windows 7 system (after a clean re-install of Windows 7), and I've named my library "Steve's PC", as before.

My player's light turned from blue to dim white, and my Logitech controller loaded all my music data, and works perfectly.

The only glitch is the Android "Squeezebox" app on my Samsung Galaxy S4. The app starts, and asks me to choose the player. The list populates with "Living Room" (the name of my player, currently playing "Snow Cavern Flight" from Mike Oldfield's "Tres Lunas II") but nothing I try allows me to select the player.

I tried re-installing the app, but now it gets as fas as "Free your music" then stalls (it's been like this for about 10 minutes now...).

Any suggestions?

Incidentally, the "Squeeze Commander" app is working fine.

Duet and Controller For Sale

For sale in US: Duet and Controller with cables. $100. We got rid of the box a few months ago in a cleaning frenzy, and I think the booklet was in it, but it's available online as a pdf.

It still works fine, but our Boom and Radio serve our current purposes better.

How to configure Receiver for wireless network if Controller has been lost?

Squeezebox Duet worked fine with me since quite long time. As controller I was using the Squeezebox App on my Galaxy S2.
Yesterday, I intended to restart the Receiver but I erroneously performed a reset to factory settings. Since I have lost the original Controller I'm now unable to connect the Receiver to my wireless network, as I cannot find a way to do the configuration by means of the App on my Smartphone.

Is there a way to configure the Receiver for a wireless network other than by means of the original Controller?

Receiver doesn't play some radio stations but all other squeezeboxes do.

Hi All.
Apologies if I am asking a question that has been answered before.
I have 2 x Boom's, 3 x SB3's and a Receiver connected to LMS on WHS2011. The Boom's and SB3's all play radio stations from my favourites but the Receiver only plays some of them.
I am sure this has been since the BBC feeds were changed but don't understand why the Receiver is treating the feeds differently.
The stations I can't play are through either Tune-in or Radio feeds. The BBC iplayer app works fine so I can listen to all the stations but there are no MW stations on iplayer.
The MW feeds work through Tune-in etc on the other squeezeboxes.
Is there something I need to do on LMS to enable this?
Thanks in Advance

whats the deal here with this? I'm guessing it's somthing to do with the fact that very few brand new unit are still being registred. Seen as though they've been out of production for so long. I couldn't find much on it but really need help getting this thing going. I'd really hate to have to chase down the waranty on this one.

Receiver Works, Radio doesn't

$

Hi all,

My Radio stopped playing music a few days ago. Of course I didn't to anything ;)

The scenario is as follows:
- Duet/Receiver works fine
- Radio doesn't play music
- However Radio can be used to control Receiver and displays what's playing on receiver
- I don't see the Radio in LMS Settings under Player (or in the dropdown on top of the LMS main screen)
- In the Radio's menu (Settings > Choose Player) both radio and receiver show up
- Server Info under Diagnostics lists the correct LMS and Library Name
- If I go to "Synchronize" however, it says "Add one or more additional Squeezeboxes to use the Synchronize feature..."

So it seems Radio can see Receiver but Receiver can't see Radio?

A simple restart of either LMS or Radio doesn't help.
I run LMS 7.7.2 on a QNAP NAS. Radio's version is 7.7.3.

If anybody had an idea what's going on, I'd highly appreciate it :)

Consensus on Duet Remote Controller Replacement?

Are there any options besides mobile apps to replace the Duet-style controllers? Something easily charge-able would be my biggest concern - my phone is charging at home and I don't want to have to unplug it every time I want to play music.

how to get to network setup mode?

I've always used our wi-fi for the Duet, but some recent rewiring allows us to now hard-wire the unit. My problem is, I don't see how to get unit network setup and change it to Ethernet? I've gone as far as doing a factory reset and after selecting country, it just starts searching for wi-fi connections and doesn't appear to provide an option to select Ethernet? How do you get the unit into setup mode for selecting connection type? I know with our Transporter there is some combination of keys to allow to get into setup- Is there something similar with the Duet?
thanks,

Anyone got the Duet to connect to Raspberry Pi

$

After a week of struggling I have found where the problem lies but not an answer for it. As well as a Duet I have a Radio, it is no problem. I installed LMS on Raspberry Pi 2 running Raspbian Wheezy and followed the directions on All Things Pi. I find it will not install on Jessie (any help there?). The purpose of moving the server was to save on energy. I was running a full sized AMD computer 24/7 connected to the Router by Wi-Fi so Wake up on LAN is not possible. The idea of the Pi at 4 watt seemed great and being so small I could connect it to the router by Ethernet.

With all that work done the Receiver will not connect. I do a factory reset on both the controller and receiver but it will not connect. The radio connects without a problem. Tonight I switched the old server back on and the controller connected with the receiver no problem. I then switch to the library running on the Pi and it worked for about 45 sec. when it just dropped out and would not re-connect. I have tried different versions of LMS but it makes no difference.

Has anyone got the Duet running on Raspberry Pi. If so can you give me some details?
Any suggestions how I can run a LMS on a very economical machine?

Anything else would be appreciated.

MAC os x 10.11.2 Squeezebox duet problems - no connection!

Is anyone else having problems since upgrading to latest OS X and to latest LMS? First LMS would not download from L/tech website, then it refuses p/words, then it will not allow entry of its details in System Prefs and so on. It did work once for a few minutes, but only internet radio, before losing the server connection.

Trying to get any help from L/tech website is a nightmare too if trying to browse with Firefox. tried several others and Only Safari allowed relatively stable access to successive webpages.

Perhaps L/tech don't want Mac users?

Replaygain anomalies with synchronized players

$

Running two sync'd SB players and occasionally Squeezeplay with Windows 7 and LMS 7.7.5. Sometimes the replaygain setting is ignored in playback, ie. no volume adjustment even when track gain or smart gain is selected. Remedy is to de-synchronize players or turn one player off and back on again, then feature functions normally.

Another inconsistency: the visual volume adjustment setting of track gain, smart gain, album gain, or no adjustment sometimes syncs across players, other times not. And that is independent of whether the audio effect is heard or not. So sometimes the audio is working properly on both players even though they show different setting, and sometimes they show the same setting and the audio is unaffected. Recently migrated to new computer (though with same files and LMS version) and only now noticing, but issue may have preceded the move, not sure. Searched forums and didn't find anything on this. Anyone have experience?

I was connected ok, and now I can't reconnect

Controller firmware is the latest (just updated yesterday).

Receiver firmware also latest (just updated yesterday).

Bridge.

D-Link DIR-655 latest firmware.

I was able to get everything well enough connected so I had internet radio streaming. But since I couldn't get Tidal to work (a whole other subject), I decided to redo the connections process. Now I'm stuck with a blinking red light on the receiver, and the controller won't give me an option to select Squeezebox as the source.

I've tried the controller reset holding down "+" about 5 times, but it still won't give me that option. I also tried resetting the receiver.

Since I had it connecting and working before, I'm at a loss what to do.

Help much appreciated!

SB Duet Receiver stops streaming radio at 09:00 every day

$

As the Subject says: My SB Duet Receiver stops at 09:00 every day if it is streaming radio (BBC Radio 4), as if the Stop button had been pressed. If I reselect to play the same radio station (select Back, then Play), playing the radio resumes immediately. WTF is going on?

I am running LMS on a Synology NAS box - the version of LMS supplied by Synology in DSM 5.2 for DS 713+. I also have some older SB3 players; they appear not to suffer the same interruption at 09:00 (I think - I use them less often), though they do rebuffer rather more frequently. My internet connection is via mobile broadband and is not the fastest, but the SB3s appear not to be affected in the same way. Oh, and I am in Co. Wicklow, in Ireland, so listening to BBC Radio 4 of FM is not really an option (and on DAB not at all an option); I have a big Ron Smith FM arial on the roof, which does (did) let me get BBC radio in all but very fine weather, but the recent storms have thrown it completely out of alignment.

Is the SB Duet Receiver particularly sensitive to broadband speed? As I noted above, the Receiver stops at exactly 09:00 every day (at least, every time I have been at home to observe it); the SB3 does not stop playing the radio at 09:00, but it does pause to rebuffer more frequently than the Receiver. As far as I am aware, none of this applies to either the Receiver or the SB3 is they are streaming music files stored on the NAS box.

What could be causing the SB Duet Receiver to stop streaming radio at the same time every day? It does not appear to be a setting in LMS (the SB3 is not affected in the same way) or, as far as I can see, in the SB Duet Controller. What else can I check?
