Anyone using a Duet (or Touch) with Maverick Audio D1 Plus? Digital out problem.

I recently purchased a Maverick Audio D1 Plus to use in a bedroom system with a Duet, a turntable with phono stage, and a pair of Audioengine A5+ powered monitors. I have the Duet connected via coax and the main problem I'm having is a series of nasty, and random pops in between tracks. These pops happen regardless of if I'm playing my own flac files or using MOG. If I only have headphones plugged in, the pops are no longer there, if I plug in headphones and powered monitors the pops return. Oddly enough, I run the analog out of the D1 through another preamp (in this case a Furutech ADL GT40) then on to the powered monitors, the pops disappear. I don't have a clue as to why that happens, but it does. The problem also exists with my Touch and it exists with both the coax and optical cables. When I play tracks from my laptop via USB it works perfectly. Also, both the duet and touch work flawlessly on my living room system which is an old Peachtree Nova, both optical and coax.

Anyway, the company tech is trying to help me solve it and he suggested fixing the digital output at 24/96, or in the case of the Duet 24/48. I can't find any settings on the server or unit itself that will allow me to adjust that. I've tried enabling fixed volume and that doesn't change a thing. I'm thinking since it doesn't happen with the headphones (which has it's own amp) and it doesn't happen when I run the analog out into another preamp, that it has to be something wrong with the preamp circuit in the D1, either by design or defect.

Please anyone help me if you can with this, otherwise I may have to go with a different unit and it's hard to find a DAC/preamp/headphone amp combo in the <$500 price range. The only other ones I've seen are the Benchmark DAC1 Pre, Burson Audio HA-160D, NovaPre, and CEntrance DACmini CX.
